The Vote: Women’s Equality Day

The Vote: Women’s Equality Day

Join RPL’s celebration of the 19th Amendment securing the vote for U.S. women 100 years ago, certified on August 26, 1920.

On Wednesday, August 26, stop by the School Street side of the library to see an outdoor display dedicated to the Suffrage movement and from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm, pick up related books and movies at The Vote Pop-up Spot.

Don’t miss the creative art installations created by children and library staff inspired by Shirley Chisholm. In the evening, we have a virtual author visit with Jen Deaderick exploring her book: She the People: A Graphic History of Uprisings, Breakdowns, Setbacks, Revolts, and Enduring Hope on the Unfinished Road to Women’s Equality.

This event is part of The Vote! which is generously sponsored by Mass Humanities and is a statewide initiative to spark conversations around voting rights.
