Silent Reading Party
Afternoon Tea and Crazy Hat Extravaganza
Monday, July 07
2:30pm - 4:30pm
Reading Public Library
Community Room (A & B), Conference Room, Library LawnCome to read in community, stay to talk about your title...or your topper!
Come join the fun for our inaugural silent reading party! The concept is simple:
- Come to the library with whatever book you're currently enjoying
- Read it in silence, in the company of other Reading readers
- Gather in the Community Room to enjoy refreshments and talk with others about the your book(s).
We've decided to up the ante a bit to make it extra fun: wear an extraordinary hat, one in keeping with the theme of your book's protagonist or plot, something worthy of The Royal Ascot, a beloved and well-worn ball cap, or any unusual getup that will make people wonder what you have on your head and why!
Not-so-serious prizes will be awarded in both book and headgear categories, consolation can be found in finger sandwiches, dessert items, and lovely libations. Attendance qualifies you for a bonus entry into the Summer Reading grand prize raffle: gift cards to Calareso's, Whitelam Books and Market Basket.
This program is generously supported by The Friends of the Reading Public Library.
