RPL On Wheels is a custom-built book bike designed by Haley Tricycles to transport a small collection of library materials to various locations and events throughout Reading. This environmentally friendly, mobile service was made possible due to generous support and funding from the Reading Public Library Foundation.

What is RPL On Wheels?

RPL On Wheels is a form of library outreach to community members that is environmentally friendly, extremely mobile and far-reaching, and eye-catching. The purpose of this service is to attract new patrons into becoming regular library users; bring the library to people who might mistakenly believe the library is not for them; educate people on the evolution of libraries, their resources and services; and to serve the community in new and exciting ways.

Where does the Book Bike go?

RPL On Wheels can travel to most places in Reading. You may find us at parks, community festivals, block parties, local businesses, schools or even the Commuter Rail Station! If interested in hosting the Book Bike, please click on the “Suggest a Visit” button at the top of this page. RPL On Wheels is available for travel from approximately April to October, weather permitting.

The Book Bike cannot be requested for private parties.

What is included on the Book Bike?

People can sign up for a Reading Public Library card, browse, borrow and return books, learn about RPL programs and resources, and more when the RPL Book Bike visits.
