The Vote: Exploring Voting Rights in America

Mr. President How Long Must We Wait

Reading Public Library is celebrating 100 years of U.S. women earning the right to vote with a Massachusetts Humanities grant- The Vote: Exploring Voting Rights in America. RPL commemorates the 19th Amendment and voting rights more broadly through multiple online events, lectures and performances, facilitated discussions, documentary screenings, projects, and performances.

We kick off the series with two appearances by Tina Cassidy who is Chief Marketing Officer of WGBH, writer on history, politics, and women, and a former journalist.   Ms. Cassidy was recently featured on the American Experience documentary The Vote. Please join us online Wednesday July 29th at 7:00 p.m. as Ms. Cassidy lectures on her new book, Mr. President, How Long Must We Wait? Alice Paul, Woodrow Wilson, and the Fight for the Right to Vote; laying the groundwork for a solid understanding of the history of the 19th Amendment.

Save the date! Cassidy returns to facilitate a discussion of Mr. President, How Long Must We Wait? on August 5th at 7:00 p.m.

Books are available digitally through the Library’s Overdrive platform, physically for curbside pick-up, or for purchase at Whitelam Books. Please visit our website at https://readingpl.org/ or call for more information on accessing the title. 781-944-0840.
