Fall Events at the Library

Fall always feels like a new school year to us at the RPL, and we’ve got some fresh new programs and a new events calendar to showcase!

We’re honored to host 2024 Pulitzer Prize Winner in History Jacqueline Jones on Wednesday, September 25th, at 7 p.m., as she presents her most recent work, No Right to an Honest Living: The Struggles of Boston’s Black Workers in the Civil War Era.

Do your little ones like to dance? This fall, we’ve got some great Children’s concerts on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 am.

Our Friends Speaker Series, sponsored by the Friends of the Reading Public Library continues to inspire us with best-selling authors and engaging speakers. Join us virtually on Tuesday, September 10th at 2 pm for Capturing the Human Drama Through History with Author Garrett Graff.

Come celebrate culture and community at the 1st annual Autumn Moon Festival on Saturday, September 28, at 12:30 pm with the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Town of Reading’s Office of Equity and Social Justice, Reading Public Library, and Must Eats Travel.

Are you registered to vote? If not, register to vote at the library on Tuesday, September 17th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., National Voter Registration Day.

Teens: Do you have a black thumb when it comes to plants? Then come and make a cemetarium on Tuesday, October 8th at 4 pm. Teens can assemble a fun spooky scene with a gnarled tree, gravestones, mushrooms, moss, and haunting characters all contained in a covered glass terrarium jar.

Special thanks to the Friends of the Reading Public Library for generously funding many of our programs.
