UPCOMING BOOK DISCUSSIONS

Word of Mouth

Have you read any good books lately?  Stop by the library for this informal gathering on last Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m.  Share your reads and listen to picks and pans of this avid group of readers.

Studio 64 Book Club

Looking for a casual book group where you can discuss, engage and laugh with other like-minded readers? The Studio 64 Book Club meets on Friday (after the third Tuesday) of each month in the Studio Space of the library at 64 Middlesex Avenue. Titles include a sampling of fiction and nonfiction genres and writing styles. Led by an RPL Librarian. Regular and large print copies of each month’s selection are available in the Hold Shelf area of Borrower Services.

Family Book Club

Check out the library’s monthly book pick and accompanying discussion questions to foster conversation about diversity and difference. Take the book home to read and discuss with your family, or together with friends and neighbors.  Please contact the Children’s Room for more details.

Coming Soon: Fact or Fiction Book Group

Coming September 2024: The Fact or Fiction Book Group, an inclusive adult reading group, will meet monthly for lively discussions about selected titles and recent or current reads. Attendees select titles for conversation and facilitate meetings. Meetings may include slide shows or videos. All are welcome to listen, question, and participate. Print titles will be available at the Book Group Pick-up Shelf in the library. Other formats (like e-books or audio books) may also be available. Contact Research and Reader Services at rdgref@noblenet.org or call (781-942-6703) for assistance. Meetings are third Tuesdays, September through May, 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Coming Soon: RPL Nonfiction Book Group

Coming September 2024: RPL Nonfiction Book Group

Join other nonfiction enthusiasts for engaging discussions about history, current events, memoirs, science and nature, health and wellness, and other great topics featured in rotating selections of nonfiction titles. This book group is open to all and is facilitated by an RPL Librarian. Regular and large print copies of each month’s selection are available in the Hold Shelf area of Borrower Services. This group will meet monthly on the 2nd Wednesday each month at 7:00 pm in the Lower Level Conference Room at the Library.

Nonfiction Smackdown returns Fall 2024

Each month kids in grades 4 & 5 read 2 or 3 nonfiction titles assigned by your fearless leader, Librarian Ashley. When we get together for our monthly meeting, we’ll discuss the books, loosely using the nonfiction Sibert Medal criteria. Then we’ll vote and decide which one we think is the BEST. At our January meeting, we’ll have one big vote to see which book was our ultimate favorite and rank all the titles.

Reading Rockets returns Fall 2024

Each month we’ll discuss diverse and engaging books for kids. This group is designed for students in grades 4 & 5 and their caregiver; together we’ll talk about characters, setting, language, art and much more. WHO is your favorite (or least favorite) character? WHY did they make the choices they did? WHAT would you do if you were in the same situation?
