Read Beyond the Beaten Path begins on Tuesday, June 21 at 9 am. You can start participating at any point during the summer. Just be sure to log your final time by 5 pm on Saturday, August 13.
“Read Beyond the Beaten Path” summer reading program is sponsored by the Friends of the Reading Public Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and the Boston Bruins.
Hey adults! It’s summer reading with a purpose! Beginning June 21, log your minutes read and when we together hit a time-read target, the library will make a donation on behalf of our readers to a charitable organization.
When we reach…
Reading Goal #1: 2,500 minutes = $100 donation to Food Pantry
Reading Goal #2: 5,000 minutes= $100 donation to Plant a Tree (*To be planted in front of the Library)
Reading Goal #3: 10,000 minutes = $100 donation to a summer camp for kids.
When we say reading, that means books, ebooks, magazines, graphic novels, AND listening to audiobooks and e-audio! Because you’re so awesome, each week you participate you will be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing: a National Parks Annual Pass – which grants free access to more than 2000 US National Parks and Recreation Areas for one year. Read more than 100 minutes in a week for an extra entry!
Children birth through Grade 6 can participate in the Children’s Summer Reading Program. Stop by the Children’s Room to pick up your camp map on or after Tuesday, June 21.
The map will lead you along paths with fun learning activities this summer. When you’ve reached the end of a path, come back in for prizes including a book, a flashlight, and a trip to our camp store!
